About Mysuru

Mysuru was the capital of the Wadiyar kings of Mysore for centuries and is still known as the City of Palaces and the cultural capital of Karnataka. The Mysore Palace, lit by nearly a hundred thousand bulbs on Sunday evenings and holidays, is one of the most visited monuments in India.

Chamundi Hill, St Philomena's Church, the Brindavan Gardens at the KRS Dam and the island fortress of Srirangapatna are all close by. The ten-day Dasara festival in September or October is the city's grandest event. Mysuru is about three hours from Bengaluru on the expressway, and is a good base for Coorg, Bandipur and the road to Ooty.
