About Mahé

Mahé, also called Mayyazhi, is a small town at the mouth of the Mahe River on the Malabar coast. It is part of the Union Territory of Puducherry but surrounded by Kerala, and was a French possession until 1954.

The town has a riverside walk, the St Teresa's Shrine, whose feast in October draws large crowds, and views where the river meets the Arabian Sea. Thalassery and Kannur are close by, and Kannur International Airport is under an hour away.
