The city

Belagavi is in the north-west of Karnataka, in the foothills of the Western Ghats.

  • Belagavi, also known as Belgaum, is the headquarters of Belagavi district and Belagavi division.[1]
  • The Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, a second state administrative building for Karnataka, was inaugurated in Belagavi in 2012.[1]

Belgaum Fort and Kamal Basadi

The fort is in the city and takes an hour or two to walk around.

  • Belgaum Fort was begun in 1204 and has ramparts and a large moat. It has been renovated several times by later rulers.[2]

Gokak Falls
